THE 2011 CHEVRY CAMARO WILL SERVE AS THE OFFICIAL PACE CAR AT ROAD AMERICA
FROM TEAM CHEVY INSIDE THE GRAND-AM GARAGE: JIM LUTZ, GRAND-AM PROGRAM MANAGER-GM RACING: "It will be another exciting weekend of competition for Team Chevy as the Grand-Am Road Racing Series makes its first appearance at Road America in Wisconsin. We have a test day on Wednesday to give teams an opportunity to set their cars up and become familiar with the 4.048-mile track.
"We have been challenged again in the Rolex Sports Car Series GT class with a rules adjustment. For the third consecutive race, the Rolex Series officials have added weight to our GT.R Camaro. In addition, they have put a restrictor on our LS3 engines to force a power reduction. In spite of these changes, our GT teams are prepared and optimistic about their chances this weekend. We should have three strong Camaros as well at the Whelan/Marsh Racing Corvette.
"Our three Chevrolet Daytona Prototype teams are ready to do battle as well. Because the Rolex Series race is only two-hours at Road America, shorter than the teams are accustomed to, there will be differing fuel strategies, which will make for exciting competition.
"In the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge GS class, our three GS.R Camaro teams fielding five cars are still chasing the best Mustangs and BMWs but every race the Chevy teams are making progress and we will have a good showing at Road America."
