Bill Lester Qualifies The Autohaus Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro GT.R 10th For The Porsche 250 At Barber Motorsports Park
The Autohaus Motorsports team arrived at Barber Motorsports park optimistic to improve their points position in the GRAND-AM Rolex GT Class. Entering the weekend the No. 88 Autohaus Motorsports Chevy Camaro is 10th in team points, the highest ranked of the Chevrolet Camaro GT entries.
The 2.38 mile, 17-turn Barber Motorsports Park circuit is a highly technical track with few passing areas. A well handling race car is essential for success at the track, making set-up the key. All Rolex Series team’s plans for engineering strategy were thwarted this morning, when an on track incident in a different series caused significant damage to a guardrail along the track, delaying and shortening the Rolex Series practice session. With only 15 minutes of practice time this morning, instead of the anticipated 30 minutes, the team did not have the opportunity to try all the set-up changes they would have liked. The No. 88 Autohaus Motorsports Chevy Camaro ran well in morning practice with Lester’s co-driver Jordan Taylor running a quick lap of 1:31.573 for a third place ranking in the shortened practice session.
Bill Lester piloted the No. 88 Autohaus Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro for the 15 minute qualifying session today. Battling grip issues throughout the session, Bill managed his fast time of a 1:32.676 towards the end of the session earning the team a fifth row starting position in GT with a tenth place qualifying effort.
The team’s challenge for tomorrow will be determining the ideal set-up for the car in order to maintain handling over the entire stint of the tires and through the fuel window. This is no easy task when paired with the possibility that race time tomorrow could bring the hottest temperatures the competitors will see during the race weekend. The No. 88 has been strong here this weekend, and fellow Team Chevy Racing Camaros have qualified 2nd and 3rd for tomorrow’s race. The team feels that there is a strong possibility for a podium finish and even a win.

The green flag flies for the Porsche 250 from Barber Motorsports Park tomorrow, Saturday, April 9th at 4:00 PM EST. The race will be tape delayed on SPEED TV, airing Sunday, April 10th at 12:00 PM EST.
