The No. 88 Autohaus Motorsports Chevy Camaro Qualifies on the Pole for The Six Hours of the Glen!

The No. 88 Autohaus Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro will start from the pole Saturday’s GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen following a stellar qualifying run by Jordan Taylor.

The Friday afternoon qualifying session continues the team’s hot streak that began with their first win at VIR last month, followed by a second place finish at Lime Rock Park earlier this week. Jordan Taylor, the 20-year old GM factory driver, drove the session’s fastest GT lap of 1:51.939 on his second timed lap. This is Autohaus Motorsports’ first pole position of the 2011 season, and marks the fourth career pole for Taylor in GRAND-AM GT competition. In his only other qualifying effort in the Autohaus Camaro this season Taylor had a front row qualifier at the Rolex 24. Today’s pole extends the young driver’s record of front row GT qualifiers to 9 out of 9.

“It feels really good to win the pole for Autohaus today. It was a tough qualifying,” explained Taylor. “I knew the other Camaros had been ahead of us in the practice sessions and it would be tough to beat Liddell and Gavin. I worked with Charlie Ping, our engineer and he made some great changes to the car before qualifying and the Autohaus guys gave me a great car, and I just put one together. We’ll see how tomorrow goes; it’s a long race.”

Today’s pole for Jordan is special for another reason. His older brother Ricky Taylor qualified the No. 10 Sun Trust Chevrolet Dallara on pole for the DP class for tomorrow’s race. It is the first time in GRAND-AM history that brothers have both captured pole for the same event. “It’s really nice to both be on pole at the same time, and both be happy,” expressed Jordan. “We have each won poles before, but never together.”

Jordan Taylor will be joined tomorrow in the No. 88 Autohaus Motorsports Chevy Camaro by his season long co-driver Bill Lester and by Team Chevy Corvette Racing driver Tommy Milner. The green flag flies on Saturday, June 4th at 1:00 PM EST with tape delayed coverage on SPEED at 4:30 PM EST.
