Laguna Seca - Bill Lester Caught The Racing Bug Here

Bill Lester remembers coming to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in 1968 when he was seven years old. It was a big day in his life.

"I came here for a Can-Am race, and that set the hook on me being a race car driver," Lester said. "Bruce McLaren, Jim Hall and Denny Hulme were among the drivers racing that day."

Lester spent second grade through high school living in San Jose, and then moved to Oakland. Now he's returning to his old stomping grounds as the Rolex Series GT points leader with Jordan Taylor in the No. 88 Autohaus Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro.

"I love this race track," Lester said. "What's not to love about Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca with all its history. We just need to continue to execute the way we have been doing all season. Brute speed is not our forte - we don't beat outselves, that's our key. Other teams have been stubbing their toes, and so far we haven't."
